Gospel Hour Site Update

We have rearranged the Gospel Hour site to facilitate access to sermons broadcast in the second hour of Sunday Breakfast (7-8am) ‘informally’ called ‘the Hunter Gospel Pulpit’. All sermons, messages and talks now have a dedicated page under the ‘Sermon’ tab on the site navigation bar. These audio files may be freely downloaded and shared with acknowledgment to the Kurri Kurri Congregational fellowship and the Gospel Hour. Bear in mind that by Divine intention, preaching is a ‘living voice to a hearing ear’, that is, it is always better, DV, to be ‘there to hear it’ in the first place. The sermons and messages have been processed for broadcasting with no editorial modification of the actual content. We thank the LORD for His great kindness and the gracious privilege of serving our fellow ‘strangers and pilgrims on the earth’.

Gospel Hour Site Update

The Gospel Hour has returned from furlough and will continue over the holiday break at the normal scheduled broadcast time. Replays of previous programs will still be broadcast early Friday mornings on 2CHR-96.5 after the 5am news-brief through to 6am. Rob will also be hosting the Monday evening 6-8pm ‘Connections’ program on 2CHR over the holidays and into January 2012. We have invited Richard Rennie, the teaching elder from Kurri Kurri Congregational church to present a regular piece on the ‘Sayings of the Saviour’ in the ‘Connections’ program. The recorded audio of Richard’s talks are available on the program page.

The Gospel Hour will be on furlough for two weeks from the 20th of November due to other commitments. Lord willing, it will return to air on Sunday morning 11th of December at the scheduled time. Supporting Christ Honouring Bookshop-Literature Ministries

Doing some web searches the other day I came across The Faith and Freedom Bookshop website. The title immediately caught my eye. I was surprised to discover that it was the continuance of our late dear brother John McKenzie and his wife’s ministry from Adelaide. I had been under the mistaken impression in particular that the McKenzie’s bookshop work had simply continued on at the Magill Church site in S.A. However that was not the case. Apparently John passed on his work into safe hands not long before he went home. Thank the LORD for that then.

One of the most important aspects of a bookshop and literature ministry is knowing what NOT to present on your shelves, as “we have no small cause to be thankful to God for good books, when there be such hordes of bad ones”. Indeed, there are ‘christian bookshop’s’ in this country that began well, but quickly capitulated to the errant wants of an undiscerning nominal ‘christian’ clientèle. Abandoning biblical principles and pandering to itching ears rather than presenting sound doctrine that cannot be condemned, such became purveyors of perverse things and a source of real injury to young believers as yet unexercised in the faith. A ‘world of christian products’ is merely a high sounding catch-phrase for promoting businesses that are swine troughs overflowing with mystical offal and rancid slops of neo-liberalism. Enough said.

We warmly commend the Faith and Freedom Bookshop to the attention of our listeners. Pray earnestly for the Lord’s blessing upon the believers at Faith Presbyterian Church – Perth who uphold this ministry.

Psalm CD from the EPC

The new psalm CD featured in the Gospel Hour on the 7/11 is a ministry effort of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (Australia). Produced by the youth fellowship of the EPC’s Launceston congregation, the CD presents acapella selections from the Metrical Psalter (1650) of authentic spiritual praise and believing testimony. This is a fine work by these young people and we are thankful to the LORD for the privilege of presenting it in the show.

Broadcast Schedule Update

The final Hunter Gospel Hour broadcast for 2010 is scheduled for Sunday the 12th of December. We will then be on furlough till Sunday the 23rd of January 2011 DV. The Gospel Hour is now into its 4th year of live-to-air broadcast on 2CHR and after a good rest we hope to return refreshed and invigorated for further service. We wish to express heartfelt appreciation for our listener’s prayers, comments and encouragement over the last 4 years; Noting also the friendship, advice and support from our fellow presenters, office staff, and 2CHR committee.
